The Scriptorium

September 27th, 2006 by daysies

our wonderful, illustrious Numenor brings us a new tool to help us add new custom scripts without panicking that we screwed up a config file (in the (gamedir)\The Sims 2\TSData\Res\Catalog\Scripts\ and Res\Lights\ folders).  before, you had to open up the stairs.txt, lights.txt, walls.txt, fireplaces.txt, etc. files and add specific text so you could see the new stairs you just downloaded in the build mode catalog.  now you don’t have to edit those files because The Scriptorium does that all for you.

once you install The Scriptorium, it puts 3 new folders in the Scripts folder, aptly named Scriptorium-something and appends your current walls, stairs, and fireplaces files with one line to look at these folders for additional code.  (it adds one new folder to your Lights folder as well.)  then when you download these special custom objects, a .txt file with the custom code should also be included and all you need to do is drop it in the appropriate Scriptorium folder.

just a note: this method only works if you have The Scriptorium installed.  do that, and your Simming life will be so much easier!  :)
