if you haven’t downloaded it yet, you need to download it now. otherwise, you’re no longer invited to play with us on the swingsets.
anyway, i’ve tested about 20 versions of this thing. it just amazes me how Delphy coded it all by hand. i don’t even know the first thing about programming. all i can do is kinda sorta read it and understand the concept. even that takes some practice.
well, i’ve jumped in feet first with regards to supporting this new tool and i’m having a blast. other than Delphy’s Multi-Sims2Pack Installer, this is my other favorite. honestly, i don’t use Q-Xpress because i have my own method of downloading and extracting and putting the files where i want. i’m extremely anal that way. i hardly delete anything and i keep backups (sometime multiple backups) of everything.

oh! i didn’t know that Numenor updated the CEP since the 6.0. so download it now if you haven’t gotten it yet. it contains a bugfix and improves integration with older BaseGameStarter (BSG) installations. however, if you’re like me and want to stay current, then download it.

Quaxi has updated SimPE to be Pets compatible. read the changelog here. make sure you have .NET Framework 2.0 as this SimPE only works with that.

our wonderful, illustrious Numenor brings us a new tool to help us add new custom scripts without panicking that we screwed up a config file (in the (gamedir)\The Sims 2\TSData\Res\Catalog\Scripts\ and Res\Lights\ folders). before, you had to open up the stairs.txt, lights.txt, walls.txt, fireplaces.txt, etc. files and add specific text so you could see the new stairs you just downloaded in the build mode catalog. now you don’t have to edit those files because The Scriptorium does that all for you.
once you install The Scriptorium, it puts 3 new folders in the Scripts folder, aptly named Scriptorium-something and appends your current walls, stairs, and fireplaces files with one line to look at these folders for additional code. (it adds one new folder to your Lights folder as well.) then when you download these special custom objects, a .txt file with the custom code should also be included and all you need to do is drop it in the appropriate Scriptorium folder.
just a note: this method only works if you have The Scriptorium installed. do that, and your Simming life will be so much easier!

the CEP has been updated to accomodate the objects from Glamour Life Stuff. it also includes the awesome lighting mods from GunMod and Chocolate Pi. i only installed the CEP, not the light mod because i haven’t really read far enough into how the lighting mods work and what files it would touch. not that i don’t trust Numenor’s installer… i just want to make sure i made backups of my files myself before i run the installer.
one thing you will need to know is that with either lighting mods, do not use Dizzy2’s “smart lights” mod as they will conflict. actually, i’m not sure if it conflicts with Chocolate Pi’s enhanced version of GunMod’s lighting mod but i would assume it would since it’s basically the same mod with added functionality. instead, use Numenor’s “smarter lights” mod instead (which has also been updated a few days ago).

OMG, i’m so out of the loop! just when i saw that you can have 1×1 size lots, i saw that you can change the lot size once you’re already on a lot. UH-MAY-ZING!!! click here to read more about it. i can’t believe i just found out about it now and it’s already been out for more than a month.
also, if you’re looking into trying smaller lots, you can download them from here. (click on home, then news.) i know some folks are testing them… so there might be some bugs. however, MaryLou frequently teams up with Numenor to create innovative objects for the game, so you can pretty much guarantee it’s flawless.
note: just skimming through the first few posts, there are issues with “teleporter points” of Sims and cars (like coming home from your job / carpool), etc… so you must read the whole thread before you start testing it yourself. it’s always better to be well-informed than to be the dummy and jump feet first and find out there’s no water in the pool.
you can expand lots; you can not shrink lots. that’s why it’s called LotExpander.

on some of the Sims 2 content creator’s sites i visit, i’ve noticed that they are now including collection files with their sets so we, the downloader, can easily find their items without weeding through thousands (literally!) of items. now you can go one step further and create your own collections without having to go through the catalog!
OMG, you can’t imagine how long i’ve been wanting something like this. it’s such a pain going through thousands of items in the buy/build mode catalogs. i’m not sure if this program works with Body Shop, but once i try it out, i’ll definitely let you know. so download the Sims 2 Collection Creator and start organizing!!!
i just ran the program and the interface is pretty self-explanitory. you can create new collections, you can edit existing collections. now i just have to play…
